[Spoiler Review] Anime 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 3 Episode 48 (Episode 1) "Execution"

On January 11, 2026, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has finally begun! With the wounds from the catastrophic Shibuya Incident still fresh in our hearts, the story plunges forward into an even more brutal stage.

Overall Impression: The Overwhelming Tension of Yuta Okkotsu's "Cold-Hearted Return"

Episode 48, "Execution," marks the start of Season 3, and the biggest topic is undoubtedly the arrival of Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie. The scene where the once gentle Yuta completely changes his aura and coldly declares, "I will kill Yuji Itadori"... Combined with MAPPA's powerful direction, it felt like my heart stopped through the screen.

The staff carries over from Season 2, and the visual quality remains impeccable, from the desolate atmosphere of Tokyo to the coldness of the pouring rain. The new opening and ending themes are stylish yet unsettling, perfectly foreshadowing the deadly "Culling Game" to come. Absolutely outstanding!

Episode 48

The story begins with the horrific state of Tokyo, overrun by cursed spirits and stripped of order. In the wake of the Shibuya Incident, which has shaken all of Japan, the Jujutsu Higher-Ups issue a series of heartless and cruel decisions:

• Re-execution of the death sentence for Suguru Geto (Kenjaku)
• Banishment of Satoru Gojo on charges of "conspiracy," and criminalization of any attempt to unseal him
• Immediate execution of Yuji Itadori's death sentence

The one who appears as the executioner is none other than Yuta Okkotsu. Leaping over buildings and slaying special-grade cursed spirits with a single strike, his appearance is unmistakably the Yuta we know, yet his eyes hold the cold resolve of an unshakable warrior.

As viewers who know how hard Yuji and the others fought in Shibuya, and what they lost, the despair of seeing Yuta, who should be their strongest ally, appear as an "enemy" after losing the shield that was Gojo-sensei is beyond words.

True to its title "Execution," there seems to be no room for negotiation. Will Yuji's lonely battle begin once more? It was a heart-wrenching 24 minutes.
